Who we are
The Village Chapel is a nondenominational church family whose primary desire is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. Therefore, we seek to live in right relationship with God, our neighbors and with each other.

Our Story
On April 15, 1967, a meeting was held at the residence of missionary James Stanley in Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City. The meeting was attended by 14 members—seven who were already baptized and another seven who were baptized after the meeting. Among them were pioneers such as Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Baccaro, Mr. and Mrs. Ellie Baccaro, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Baccaro, Mr. and Mrs. Felipe Padinit, Mr. Teodorico Mercado, Mrs. Wennie Mabaylan-Gorre, and others. United by their shared devotion, it was then that the Cagayan de Oro Southern Baptist Church Incorporated was organized.
From its humble beginnings as a house church under missionary James Stanley at the corner of 8th and 22nd Streets, Nazareth, the church flourished. It was nurtured by the support of the Foreign Mission Board and its bona fide members. The church celebrated its first Thanksgiving Day on November 30, 1969, with 325 members.
As the years passed, the church’s commitment to service and education became evident. In 1980, a resolution was passed to open its doors to Mrs. Del Fierro, providing space for a small schoolhouse. This schoolhouse later evolved into the esteemed Corpus Christi School, and proceeds from the rental were used to fund scholarships.
Through dedication and perseverance, the church continued to grow. On March 19, 1996, the church filed for its annual SEC registration, and on April 30, 1996, the approval and acknowledgment of the SEC formally changed its name to its present one: Oro Baptist Church Incorporated.
